How Is Technology used in Agriculture?
(Weather Tracking)- Online weather tracking plays a big role in modern day agriculture. This technology give farmers information about what will happen the following day. If its hail they can take precaution to protect the crops on the field.
(RFID Technology)- RFID (radio-frequency identification) uses digital data, which is encoded in RFID tags and seen via radio waves. Farmers can track their crops with wifi, produce can be examined quickly through a tag.
(Satellite Imaging)- Satellites view fields and help by automatically detecting problems that undergo in the season, nutrient deficiencies, diseases, pests. With satellite images farmers can fix the issue without their field being constrained.
(Vertical Farming)- Vertical farming is producing food on vertically inclined surfaces. Not like greenhouses or fields vertical farming produces food vertically stacked layers. This idea uses indoor farming. Controlling temperature, humidity, lights.
(Precision Agriculture)- Precision agriculture uses new technology to increase the size of the crop yield while decreasing levels of traditional inputs needed to grow the crops. Another method is using gps, drones, sensors to grow crops more efficiently.
(Livestock Facilities)- Aside beef cattle, the rest of the livestock are raised inside weather controlled barns. They get protected from prey, diseases, extreme weather. Many livestock barns are connected by Wi-Fi and they can automatically feed and control climate. Some farmers can check on a cow in labor and change the lighting or climate from the own phone. If there were to be a power outage backup generators will start and the farmer gets alerted.
